A sneak peek of the Christmas pieces we’re already obsessing about
It’s the most wonderful time of the year and it’s almost here…We’ve found all the Christmassy bits that you’re going to want to snap up as soon as they hit the shelves.
1. Winter warmers
Dark nights and cold days means it’s time to splash out on cosy wraps, warm blankets and cushions that you can snuggle into on the sofa or your favourite chair. Roaring fire and mug of cocoa in hand are optional, but recommended. Bliss!
2. It’s beginning to smell a lot like Christmas
Make sure your home not only looks festive but smells it too, by stocking up on lots of seasonal-inspired candles. As well as making coffee tables and mantelpieces look that bit prettier, their scent will fill your house with festive cheer.
3. Deck the halls
Baubles don’t just have to be confined to the tree, and when they look this good you’re going to want to put them everywhere. If you don’t have space to hang them on the walls or the ceiling, then dot them along your bookshelf or even on your bedside table.
4. Festive baking
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a homemade cake or some freshly baked cookies left out for Santa. Make it a family activity and enlist little helpers to cut out fun shapes for the biscuits and leave their stamp on their baked goods. You may also need a new cake tin or two to store it all in…
5. Robin redbreast
Is that a redbreasted robin outside? For many, this is a true sign of winter, so bring that magical moment into the home with robin-adorned accessories. Plus, can you really ever have too many mugs, fresh aprons or handy-sized bowls for filling with baubles or other decorations?
6. Dress the table
When you’re going to be spending so much time sitting around the table you want it to look its best, so stock up on some new table linens. Runners are ideal for wider tables that don’t fit traditional-sized tablecloths, and re-useable and washable napkins are ideal for those inevitable spills!
7. Washing up duties
Chances are there’s going to be more washing up than usual. It may not be the most exciting job but it has to be done, so arm everyone with a festive tea towel and that pile of dirty dishes will disappear quicker. Or, better yet, delegate it completely and go and put your feet up…
8. Nature watch
Bring the outside world indoors by using some larger, wintery animal decorations around the house. Cluster them together around the edge of your fireplace or even around your Christmas tree. Little ones will love looking at them.
