How to: lay your Christmas table
A beautiful table setting makes your Yorkshire puds look extra good.
If you’re hosting Christmas, you know that setting the table can be almost as nerve-racking as cooking the actual dinner. But a few festive napkins and some quick style tricks will make sure that everything you serve up looks that little bit better… and distract from any of those little kitchen mishaps.
The colour scheme
When it comes to colour schemes, red is the classic go-to for Christmas but combined with pops of white and fresh eucalyptus sprigs it will take on a modern feel for 2017. Forget faffing with a centrepiece, a bunch of greenery in a classic vase like this will easily bring your table to life.
The place settings
For place settings, we’ve sought some vintage inspiration. In a festive shade, the classic floral berry prints of our Fireside range look great glammed up with some contemporary silver cutlery. Mix and match with sleek pebbled porcelain bowls to stop it from looking too kitsch, and finish with a sprinkle of confetti. It’s a celebration after all.
The serving up
The holidays are all about sharing and these Christmas tree platters are perfect whether they’re filled with hot roasties or mince pies. Pass them around the dinner table or set them up on the worktop with pretty patterned napkins and have your guests self-serve their own turkey and tatties. It will look good and keep serving-up stress to a minimum.
