How to: beautify your bathroom
A spa setting, made for relaxing
Nothing calls for a long soak like… do we really need a reason? It’s winter and that in itself is enough to make us retreat to the bathroom and lock the door. So it’s really a no-brainer that if there’s any room we’re going to beautify this month, it’s the bathroom. Bubbles at the ready.
First up, tidying. Bathrooms are havens for potions and lotions, which can be totally unsightly. But bosh them all in some neat nautical storage baskets – together with the spare toilet roll and the bleach – and ta-da! Clean, tidy and stylish.
For all those pretty bottles you do like to put on display, a shower caddy is the new shelfie we’re loving. Curate it with all your favourite cleansers, bottles of bubbles and body wash, and just hide those less stylish shampoos away. A lush green plant will also transform your bathroom from dated and tired to interior design mag-worthy and there’s lots of ones that thrive in high humidity. Plus, minimal watering needed. Works for us.
While we’d love to clear everything out and replace it with calming candles to create our very own spa setting, a bathroom still needs the essentials. Marble and glass will always be stylish, especially this blue-toned stone base mirror. Decant your soaps and creams into colourful glass bottles and jars, rid your windowsill of garish packaging and watch your bathroom instantly feel revamped.
And finally, the little touch of luxury. Indulge in some plush cotton towels that look as good as they feel and free them from the linen cupboard so they sit proudly on display. A bordered set likes these are simple and classic and add just a hint of colour to an otherwise all-white bathroom.
